OP in the news
Middle school hugging at Julian and OPRF stadium lights were covered in today's Trib. Check it out.

All quiet on the western suburb front
So what's with all the peace and harmony on the Oak Park Village Board? Can't we stir up a little controversy? Where are Bob Milstein and Les "No New Taxes" Golden?
Anybody want to offer an opinion about the tranquility at Village Hall these days?

Huskie football
BlogParty spent a lovely, sunny late-summer afternoon at Huskie stadium watching OPRF take on Hinsdale Central. Or rather, be taken out by Hinsdale Central. Left in the middle of the fourth quarter with the Huskies facing an insurmountable deficit on the scoreboard.
BlogParty's kids are past high school age, but we still find excuses to go to the games. Today's was that daughters of friends are on the cheerleading squad. But actually, no excuse needed. High school football on a beautiful day in our village is a great way to follow up a mid-morning trip to the farmer's market.
Next year, we'll be heading over to the stadium on Friday nights, where even bigger crowds (presumably) will gather to watch the Huskies tackle usually much larger teams in the West Suburban Silver conference.
We think Friday night lights will be great for generating community spirit and greater enthusiasm for the football team. We understand Friday nights might be a pain in the butt for residents along the west side of the athletic complex, but if ever there were a case where community good trumps neighborhood opposition, this is it.
